The opening ceremony of the 2017 world exhibition in Astana, Kazakhstan, held on June 9th, was a remarkable event, and Airstage played a pivotal role with 18 autonomously flying AirOrbs.
Following the theme of "Future Energy," the ceremony depicted the birth of the solar system. Ten flying planets executed their pre-programmed choreography with astonishing precision, gliding before a vast 30-meter-wide LED screen. Their trajectories were accurate down to the centimeter.
To achieve this level of precision, 18 high-speed tracking cameras were strategically installed on the rig, along with marker-LEDs on the spheres. This setup allowed for pinpoint localization of these objects down to the millimeter, contributing to the seamless execution of the ceremony.
