May the Force Be with You

The stunt took place on May 4, 2026 – Star Wars Day – running for three hours from 7 to 10 pm. Synchronized with the surrounding digital billboards, Grogu appeared on screen and used the Force to summon the popcorn out of the display and into the physical space above the street. The activation drew crowds of fans, tourists and passersby, immediately filling Times Square with cameras pointed skyward.

The Prop

Airstage designed and built the popcorn structure – 2 metres in diameter and weighing no more than 500 grams. The exterior was finished with detailed convex and concave texturing, tuned to perform under both daylight and LED screen conditions, with no visible technical components or structural elements on the exterior. Two months of preparation and two days of on-site installation preceded the performance, in collaboration with levitation specialists Levita.
